Pi Tau Sigma-ASME Awards

Every year, Pi Tau Sigma in association with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, honor three outstanding Mechanical Engineers in the annual ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition.  Nominations for the Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal Award, the Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award, and the Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award are due on February 15. Information with regards to nominating worthy candidates are provided in the three documents below.

2011 PI TAU SIGMA AWARDS

The following individuals have been selected to receive the 2011 Pi Tau Sigma Awards:

Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal  -  Professor David Saintillan of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for outstanding achievements in mechanical engineering within 10 years of graduation.
Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award  -  Professor Arvind Raman of Purdue University, for outstanding achievements in mechanical engineering within ten to twenty years following graduation.
Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award  -  Professor Huajian Gao of Brown University, for outstanding achievements in mechanical engineering for 20 years or more following graduation.

Formal presentation of the award is scheduled to take place at the Members and Students Luncheon, Monday, November 13, 2011 during the ASME Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition, November 11-17, 2011 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.

2010 PI TAU SIGMA AWARDS

 
The following individuals have been selected to receive the 2010 Pi Tau Sigma Awards:

Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award  -  Yonggang Huang 

Formal presentation of the awards are scheduled to take place at the Members and Students Luncheon, Monday, November 15, during the ASME Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition, November 12-18, 2010, at the Vancouver Convention and Exposition Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia.

2009 PI TAU SIGMA AWARDS

The following individuals have been selected to receive the 2009 Pi Tau Sigma Awards:

Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal - A. John Hart
Gustus L. Larson Memorial Award - Anna G. Stephanopoulou
Charles Russ Richards Memorial Award - Edwin Daniel Hirleman, Jr.

The awards will be formally presented during the International Mechanical Engineering Congress in Lake Buena Vista , Florida, November 13- 19, 2009. The presentations are scheduled to take place at the Members and Students Luncheon on Sunday, November 15th.  Pi Tau Sigma wants to sincerely thank Dr. John Weese, Regents Professor Emeritus of Texas A&M University, for chairing the Pi Tau Sigma Awards Committee this past year.
